Our Curriculum
We believe that every learner deserves an education that is engaging, meaningful, and tailored to their individual needs. Our curriculum balances high-quality academic teaching with hands-on vocational learning, ensuring that students develop both knowledge and practical skills that will serve them beyond the classroom.
Academic Focus
Each morning, learners participate in structured academic sessions led by our skilled teaching staff. Our fully bespoke timetables ensure that each student receives an education tailored to their needs, abilities, and future aspirations.
Our core academic offer includes:
Maths and English (including functional skills and GCSEs)
Functional Skills qualifications (up to level 2)
Bespoke PSHE lessons
Access to broader academic subjects, delivered by our qualified teaching staff (up to GCSE's)
Our teaching team can help students access a broader academic curriculum, with some of our learners engaging in GCSE sessions in Science, History, and Photography, among other subjects.
Vocational Pathways
Our vocational curriculum allows students to explore their passions, develop new skills, and gain valuable experience in a range of fields, including:
Music Production – Rapping, singing, and studio skills
Art & Photography – Encouraging creativity and self-expression
Animal Care – Hands-on experience
Carpentry – Practical skills in woodwork and construction
Sports & Fitness – Promoting physical health and teamwork
Cooking Skills – Essential life skills and culinary creativity
Our inclusive approach ensures that every learner, regardless of background or ability, has access to opportunities that empower them to grow, achieve, and thrive.
Assessment, Progress and Interventions
Upon joining Arise ALP, students undergo an initial assessment to identify their strengths, challenges, and goals. Progress is closely monitored, and individual learning maps are created to provide a clear pathway for development.
For students requiring additional support, we implement targeted interventions in areas such as:
Reading (tracked with reading age assessments)
Literacy & Numeracy (with 'doodlelearning' interventions)
Mental Health & Well-being
We provide bi-weekly progress reports and daily attendance updates, keeping parents, carers, and commissioners informed every step of the way.
PSHE
We offer a responsive PSHE curriculum designed to adapt to the evolving needs of our learners. Alongside our structured PSHE scheme of work, we create and deliver bespoke, reactive sessions that address the real-life challenges our students face. This flexible approach ensures that our PSHE provision remains relevant, engaging, and impactful, equipping young people with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate an ever-changing world.
